Financial Impacts of Covid-19 Pandemic for Turkish Public Hospitals

The aim of the study is to assess financial implications Covid-19 pandemic on Turkish public hospitals and discuss government's responses. A comparative analysis carried out with medical data between March-December 2019 2020. Outpatient services decreased by approximately 49%, inpatient admissions dropped %35. Due this decrease in number patients, outpatient revenues 37.8%, while increased 6.3% thanks reimbursement supports Social Security Institution (SSI). On other hand, total hospital expenses 24% impact Covid-19-related expenses. This increase largely caused performance-based supplementary payments, drugs, operating Prospective global budget model helps healthcare financing stability for hospitals. Public receive their budgets compensate revenue shortfalls. SSI also try losses private additional supports. However, policymakers managers should prepare change paradigm system concentrate cost-effective policies (such as tele-health services) a result demands.
